Gary Brainin

Gary Brainin is a dedicated advocate for individuals, families, and business owners seeking to protect themselves, their assets, and the people they love. He believes that serving clients is about more than just creating documents, but instead about establishing clear and open lines of communication where people can feel comfortable talking to their attorney without fear of a bill for every phone call, fax, or email they send.

In 1997, Gary joined the well-established firm of Chillag & Associates, managing all files and serving clients in the areas of estate planning, real estate, and business law. He took over and renamed the firm in 2013, following Attorney Chillag’s retirement.

Gary is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA), an exclusive membership organization for attorneys dedicated to providing clients with the highest level of estate and elder law services. He is also a member of:

  • Elder Counsel
  • Silicon Valley Bar Association
  • Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council
  • California Bar Association

Gary graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University with high honors in Philosophy, in addition to his focus on Legal Studies. He then went on to receive his law degree from Stanford Law School, where he had the distinct privilege of serving as Executive Editor of the Stanford Law Review.

Gary was born in New York, then moved to the Bay Area—initially for law school, but the weather and charm made him stay. He is happily married to his fabulous wife, Sandy. Together they provide a loving home for their dogs, Maggie and Daisy (both rescues).
